Marvelous May

May happens to be a big birthday month in the Lindsey family. It's either a huge bust or a huge bang there's never any in between.  Cynicism has become second nature to the big man and me so the announcement that we were going out for a surprise birthday was met with ,"Just tell me where we're going so I can prepare myself for your lunacy."  Which was met with the usual, "not a chance."  Dinner, (quite good I might add) was not a surprise but the gondola ride in the back bay was too cute.
Our Venetian gondolier looked an awful lot like a SoCal surfer boy. What do you think?
Then the big surprise! He can't just get me flowers on the BIG BANG years it has to be something outrageous and something I'd never buy myself which includes quite a few things come to think of it. So to the Apple Store we go. The poor guy doesn't even know the mall well enough to find the store, so his surprise which of course I catch on pretty quick is a bust. But the gift INCREDIBLE!  As you can see below my new best friend is an awesome IMAC.

The test run to see my little chubby bug Briggs on the new larger than life screen was fantastic and his beautiful mommy who had a birthday on the 22nd was there to let us tell her face to face how much we love her.
(Check out Sarah's new hair cut, pretty cute huh?)

Springtime always gets us itching to walk the hills of our beautiful city. The nights are so pleasant and the days almost perfect. So one Saturday this month I suggested a walk along one of my normal routes. "Big Guy" had a different idea and so we set off to walk the hills of Chino State Park. This was our first trip back up there since the fires. All started off cheery despite the steep incline up San Antonio to reach the park.
It wasn't long before we realized that not many people had tramped to the top of San Juan peak since the fires because the weeds were really tall.
And the trails when you could find them. very prickly and full of burrs.
I guess I should have known something was amiss when the most beautiful vegetation  in the newly grown fire zone was the thistle.
Needless to say 4 hours later and countless prickles from my shoes, these were the result of our lovely stroll.

How apropos that May is the month to celebrate motherhood when 31 years ago I got my first taste of that society on the 16th of  this month.
Eric is much like his father in the BIG BANG department. I can almost see the wheels turning as he imagined just how much fun he could cram into one small weekend for his birthday.
Lake Oroville, a floating campsite, a competition boat, multiple BBQ's, wakeboarding and  boating, but don't stop there just take a deep breath and start all over at the Sacramento river the next day
Sammy's family was so supportive of Eric's dream weekend.  They all showed up and camped and played with him. Samantha was a great hostess and worked hard to make this a great birthday for Eric. Check out that beautiful baby belly.
Grammy couldn't stay away
Kami loved the water and her daddy's warm hug.
Papa enjoyed a few moments dreaming
Old Town Sacramento was a fun diversion arriving river side this time.

And to put icing on the top of a marathon b-day Eric took his bother-in-laws to the "Dream Xtreme" to ride the wave.
Happy Birthday Sonny!  Thanks for a fun weekend.

Mike and Jess are Married!

Saturday April 11, 2009 was a cold and blustery day in San Diego but there was a warmth beyond the cold as Mike and Jess opened a new chapter in their life together. They were surrounded by friends and family despite the distance and the cold. The sweet, tender feelings of love were present throughout the day.
Our joy is full as we celebrate the union of these two and welcome Michael into our family.

Two precious nieces
He's really married!
Love these girls!
The grandparents traveled long distances to support these two. THANKS!
I can't express the joy  I felt having all my children and their spouses in the temple together,  add a father and a brother and it really did feel a bit like heaven.
My Beautiful girls!

HOW BLESSED!!!

This weekend the family traveled from near and far to gather for the blessings of baby Briggs and baby Maddison. Two babies born twelve days apart gave us a great opportunity to get together and have some good food in honor of these special little guests. Bryce and Sarah weathered a blizzard while traveling from CO and spent the first night of their trip in a hotel in  Wyoming. Eric and Sam left Sacramento after work and traveled into the night arriving early Saturday morning.  Jess left Rexburg Friday after class and dropped Mike off at the airport in SLC after visiting his sister's new baby. Mike was on his way to say farewell to his brother who is off on a mission on Wed.  I hustled the last little one out the door from preschool and jumped into Tom's car and we raced to LAX only to have my normal DELAY!!  JD and Adrie were wonderful hosts of all the chaos and we had a fast and furious fun filled weekend.

Have you ever seen a more angelic face?
Baby Briggs was just figuring out the binky.
With the babies getting all the attention. Daddy never forgot his girls.
Two little cousins. Sugar and spice and everything nice. Snips and snails and puppy dog tails.
Briggs was blessed first in Sarah's parent's ward in Draper, Utah.

Then baby Maddison was blessed in Pleasant Grove. Her Papa loved kissing her.

Kamryn was the sweetest big cousin. She loved the babies and was so sweet and careful with them.

Kamryn wanted to hold the babies and all of a sudden the paparazzi cameras started flashing. Maddison was not impressed.
So we tried another pose. Guess what? Baby Briggs was done with pictures
One pensive moment for both of the little stars of the day.
Princess for a day!
Prince for a day!
You two little ones may have been blessed on this special Sunday in March but we are the ones truly blessed to have you in our families.
